Favourite memories of breastfeeding

Posted on May 8, 2015 at 9:20 PM
Mothers often look back over the time when they were breastfeeding and mention special memories. A baby's little hand patting the mother's face, the sounds babies make during breastfeeding....  If you are a breastfeeding mother, or if you breastfed in the past - even a long time ago - you are welcome to share these special memories here.

When my youngest was 18 months old she took a tumble off a swing set. I was concerned about her left arm as it appeared ti be hurt. Everyone including an ER Doctor dismissed my concerns. Jill would always hold my breast as she breastfed. This time she cried in pain as she tried to hold my breast with her left hand. I knew something was wrong. The ER Doctor looked down in shame as he told me an ex-Ray showed Jill had broken her left radias. Breastfeeding behavior alerted me to something was not right with my toddles arm. She is now 38 years old and I remember that day like it happened yesterday.

It was a long time ago, 24 and 21 years, however I still remember the feeling of great achievement and contentment, knowing that I was nourishing my babies/toddlers. It was a wonderful and treasured time.

My favorite Breastfeeding memory is watching my 2yo meet her newborn baby brother who was breastfeeding at the time and ask if she could share the milkies. I then breastfed them both together for the first time while DD stroked her brothers cheek. It melted my heart to watch them sharing and bonding already.
